Memorial Bench Plaques Details

You can purchase additional suitably inscribed memorial plaques to be secured to an individual bench in the cemetery where you have an existing memorial bench plaque lease.

The memorial plaque is manufactured from cast bronze and can accommodate up to 60 letters and spaces on 3 separate lines of text.

An individual bench is exclusive and will only have plaques dedicated to your loved one.

Additional plaques will remain on the bench for the duration of the existing lease. For example if you have already purchased a 10 year individual bench lease and you then purchase an additional plaque after five years, the lease for the additional plaque will be for the remaining 5 years only.

We will contact you once we have received your request to advise you of the maximum number of plaques you can purchase.

Cost

The inscribed plaque includes up to 60 characters and spaces.

Inscribed plaques are non-refundable after they have gone into manufacture.

Should you wish to alter the inscription within the lease period, a replacement can be purchased at the appropriate fee by contacting the Cemeteries and Crematoria Team.

Terms and Conditions

All benches, communal and individual, remain the property of Solihull MBC.

The lease agreement is for the plaque only.

Memorials can take up to 8 weeks to be manufactured.

Benches must not be decorated with items such as vases, flower containers, ornaments or wind chimes, these will be removed by the cemetery.

Benches are allocated on a plan and the final position of the bench is at the discretion of the Manager.

Solihull Council reserve the right to amend the Cemetery and Crematorium Regulations, the design of the benches and the position of the benches without notice to lease holders.

A bronze plaque inscribed according to your requirements will be fixed to the bench.

If you wish to change the inscription within the agreement period a replacement can be purchased.

Leaseholders must not carry out any work to benches, such as the application of paint or wood stain. Costs for the removal of paint or wood stain or a replacement bench will be passed onto the leaseholder(s).

The bench will be cleaned by the Cemetery’s contractor.

The Cemetery grounds are public open spaces and cemetery benches are supplied for all visitors to use.

If you change your name or address during the period of the lease it is your responsibility to notify the cemetery.

At the end of your lease you may renew.
